The staff at Santa Clara believe in the explicit teaching of Literacy and Numeracy. In our efforts to extend the children’s understanding we have put in place two support programs for students experiencing difficulty in Literacy and Numeracy.

Our early intervention for students begins with the Reading Recovery Program (R R) which started in 2005. Reading Recovery supports the children in Year Two who are having difficulty reaching the milestones in reading. It is an intensive program where each child works one on one with the Reading Recovery teacher building up reading, writing and sound knowledge.
